This weekend was good. It was fun. And it was cheap! What more could we ask for?! For Ryan it started at 3AM on Saturday morning when Ben (my co-op's son) came to pick him up to take him fishing on the ocean! They had to drive about an hour and a half to the Sunshine Coast, which explains the early hour. He had a blast. They caught 9 mackeral and 4 snapper which we ate about 3 hours after they were caught and they were delicious!! They saw a couple of whales during the trip, which is a bit unusual. They were only 30 feet away. Ben said he was ready to start the boat and get out of there in case there was a calf and the mama got protective! They also saw a sea turtle and dolphins.
While they were doing that, I was sleeping. :) I went up with my co-op and her husband on Saturday morning. They have a unit on the Coast at a place called Mooloolaba (which is where the fishing took place). So after eating the fish, we went down to the beach, but by that time it was already getting cooler, so we just hung out at the unit. On Sunday it was beautiful and we spent a couple hours laying on the beach and playing in the ocean. I was excited because I had definite tan lines after those two hours. So I am happy and excited to start travelling and REALLY getting a tan!
On the way back to Brisbane, they took us on the scenic route, which was interesting. We passed by the Glass House Mountains, which are extinct volcanoes. As far as mountains go, imagine our Rockies in Canada, and then cut the top 3/4 off and then you have mountains here. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful, just different. Lots of green grass and trees.
Well, the bell is going to ring for recess, and I am on supervision, so I need to stop this typing. So far, not a lot of deep thoughts on my blog...
