Ayda Is 3!!!

These loaded in the wrong order again. This is the end of the party. Ayda opening her presents.

Blowing out her candle.

Ayda's cake - I'm pretty proud of it! And yes, I made the whole thing (well, Ryan iced it and figured out how to make the chocolate plaque of Ariel's head stand up - which was really important!!) It was really fun, and the best part of it was that I could do it over a week - instead of everything the night before!

Jared and cousin Wyatt.

Grandpa and the birthday girl!!

Ayda turned 3 today, and we had a swimming party to celebrate! It was a lot of fun. And, as usual, we had lots of people there to help us celebrate. 22 adults and 18 kids. In the next couple of years, we will go from huge parties to quite small parties, as the kids enter school. But since I love planning parties, I figure we'll go big until then.
Her birthday is always such a bittersweet day. The day she was born was so precious to me - God just knew that we needed a girl born just before Christmas, 6 months after Mom died. So it is really, really special and yet brings back so many things. Overall, I want to instill in Ayda that it was really important and special that she was born when she was born, instead of her resenting the fact that she was born just before Christmas. Of course, it wasn't the plan - she was supposed to be a mid-January baby, which makes it even more obvious to me that God's hand was in her birth! So happy birthday, precious Ayda. I love you so very much and your Grandma does too, even though you can't hear her say it.

But she can hear this Grandma say it so "I love, love, love you Ayda! Your party was fun even for those who didn't swim!
