Of course, the one time I don't bring my camera down to the beach with us is the time I really wish I had it. Jared was filling and dumping out a bucket of water, and after a few times of "regular" dumping, he was trying to throw it out, you know, the way you would throw out dirty mop water. Ayda was intently watching this all, but happen to be right in the line of fire. Yup, a cold stream of lake water, thrown directly across her face. I felt bad for her, but it was super funny! I was having a tough day with the kids (okay, let's be honest, it was more a tough day with Jared), so I really needed that laugh! Of course, during the next 20 minutes I had to rescue Ayda twice from the lake. Literally. The first time wasn't so bad. She wasn't very deep and probably would have managed to get herself up, but I grabbed her anyway. The next time she fell on her butt and the water was over her head and there was no way she was getting up. It created a slight panic on my part, but of course, I got to her right away and scooped her up. It's all due to her clumsiness. She doesn't go out too far, but she tends to fall. I really have to watch her. She hasn't ever fallen with water over her head before, but if the keeps up, she'll have to wear a lifejacket at the beach, which I would hate to have to do to her - they are restricting. Anyway, we'll cross that bridge if and when we have to.
