Jared: "Lightning McQueen and mainerman at Grandpa's house."
Grandpa: "Lightning McQueen and who?!"
Jared: "Mainerman! Grandpa's house."
Ryan: "What?"
Jared: "Mainerman!"
Grandpa: "Was the meterman here today?"
Jared: "No - mainerman, [mumble, mumble], mainerman Lightning McQueen."
Grandpa: "Do you mean Mater?"
Jared: "No, mainerman..uh...mainerman! Mainerman and McQueen!"
Me: "Show me."
Jared: "No - mainerman!"
Me: "He must not be talking about a noun, a thing. It must be an activity, or something. Did we do mainerman?"
Jared: "Mainerman at Longueil's house."
Me: "Something at Grandpa Longueil's house?"
Jared: "Yeah, Longueil, mainerman!"

Now keep going along these lines another three times and you have one of our conversations this evening. I can usually figure out what Jared is saying, but every once in awhile....and nope, we never did figure out "mainerman". Any ideas? Oh, and Atticus came up in there, too, so it probably has something to do with something the two of them did together...

is Atticus teaching Jared Mandarin or Taiwanese?

Mater-man? You know, like Ta-Mater, from the movie?

Atticus is teaching Jared a couple of Mandarin words, but nothing that sounds like "mainerman". And nope, it's not Mater - we asked him that. (Plus, he says Mater properly.)

They must have collaborated and come up with a whole different language altogether.

Did you figure it out?

A little I photographed the other day said the EXACT same thing - and after his mom translated it was "spiderman"....so maybe that was it??
