Ayda pulled herself to a standing position today for the first time, in her crib. We have helped her hang onto coffee tables, etc. to stand, but this was the first time she pulled herself up. I think having the bars of the crib to push her feet against was the key - I don't think she could do it otherwise - but this was a surprise. I was reading Jared a bedtime story, and had sat Ayda in her crib to play. I looked up and at first she just pulled herself to kneel, and the next time I looked, she was pulling up to stand. She's doing things in a weird order -she's not even interested in crawling, but you bet she wants to stand! Of course, one day she'll just decide to crawl out of the blue! So I guess this means lowering her mattress - grrrr. It's harder for me that way!! But not a panic yet - she can't get from laying to sitting, so if I lay her down to sleep, there is no danger of her pulling up to stand and falling out. So that will wait until Ryan gets home from his fishing trip this weekend.

Good for her! I don't think Seth is near pulling himself up yet, though he just learned to go from laying to sitting. It still amazes me how babies near the same age can develop so differently!

Okay, scratch that--Seth pulled himself up to standing twice today!

And I know what you mean about them getting too heavy for the carseat (facebook). We switched Seth a few months ago.
