All The Kids

I spent a very relaxing and much-needed morning at the spa today. It was brilliant. While I was in a semi-conscious state, I got to thinking about the days that each of my kids were born, and the appropriate-ness of each day. Jared was born on a beautiful spring day, with the sun shining brightly into the room. He caused a flurry of activity and excitement as he entered this world, prompting the NICU team to become involved. Energy levels were high (at times laced with concern, at other times laced with pure joy). Everything about that not only describes the day, but describes HIM. His energy levels run high, he carries activity and excitement with him wherever he goes.
Ayda was born on a cold December day, in the late afternoon. The sun had already set, so no natural light came into the room. The lights in the room were low, creating an almost romantic atmosphere. Her birth was much easier and calmer. She did cry loudly when she was first born, but immediately settled down. There were no complications, so she was laid on my chest and there were fewer people in the room. Everything was calm and peaceful. That describes HER. She is content, calm and delicate.
I love that the days and times of the year that my kids were born "suit" them. The only time of the year that I didn't ever want to have a baby was around Christmas (and to be fair, she wasn't supposed to have come until January!), and yet I now think that December 19 is the perfect day for Ayda to have her birthday. I can't see it being "right" in January - God knew that! The joy, yet calm and peace of the Christmas season is my Ayda. And my Jared needs to be able to play and run outside at his birthday! The freshness of spring, the promise and buzz of new life is my Jared.
How perfect.

I keep coming back here to see if you've posted anything new, and everytime I see those pictures (especially the first one because that's all I can see without scrolling down) I'm continually amazed at how gorgeous your kids are! You're very blessed to have them!

Thanks, Jamie. And I haven't posted more because these past couple of weeks have been quite emotional and hard...I will join the blogger world again soon.
