This post is for Nevada :) Jared's bed is the top bed of a bunk bed, that's why it has railings. We can take them off, but for now we want them on, because he still would roll off occasionally without them. We got a bunk bed because up until recently, we thought we would be in this house at least until our second was ready for a bed, and two beds won't comfortably fit in the kids' room, so we needed bunk beds anyway. But we made sure to buy ones that separated into two beds, so that when they do get their own rooms, they still have beds! It's a regular sized twin bed. I wouldn't bother with a toddler bed, personally. It seems like an unnecessary step to me. You can buy railings that attach to regular twin beds, so that solves that problem (toddler beds generally come with a half railing.) And with our crib, we just took the movable railing off, and created our own toddler bed. (That's what the picture is of.) Of course, then we had to come up with a way to keep Jared in the bed - consisting of an undershirt sewn into a sheet. If you want more details, let me know. It worked GREAT!!! (Thanks Tanis!!) So he slept in his crib/toddler bed the first couple of weeks until we got the bunk beds, and now he just sleeps in his bed and it's awesome. We still need to move the crib out of his room, but I need to clean up/shuffle stuff around in our room before we can do that. I guess it will have to be soon...

I am an anonymous reader but would love the details about sewing a undershirt to the crib sheet!! Sounds interesting!
