Ryan and I went to Calgary this past weekend, with hopes of returning with a new couch and loveseat. Well, we still don't have either (long story) but we did have a great time anyway. We got to spend some good "quality" (for lack of a better, less psychological term) time with Ryan's aunt and uncle and cousins, as well as my brother and my friend from high school. Sunday we went snowshoeing up a mountain, which was really fun and a new experience. Neither of us had really snowshoed, besides in gym in high school (does that count?) Alas our camera's battery died at the lake we climbed to, so we don't have as many pictures as I would have liked, but hopefully the ones we have will be great. I'll be sure to post them once developed.
I was also able to have a great afternoon yesterday with a friend from Briercrest who now lives in Saskatoon, Nikki. We had lunch and ended up sitting and talking until 4:00 -it was great. We started off as soccer friends at college, and while we still are playing on the same team here in the city, our friendship is so much more than that. I thought about it today, and I would consider her a really good friend, as opposed to just a friend. And that just kinda happened randomly. No - it happened by God's plan. Anyway, it was a nice and refreshing time. And then today, my work-out partner, Lauren, (she's MUCH more than that, but we also work out together a lot) and I went to the gym and then she took me out for lunch. She is so great. She's in Med School and I think she will be a great doctor (as long as she can make it around without tripping :) ) once she's finished. Anyway, God has just shown his blessings to me this week with these two wonderful days of just being with special people who love Him too and bring me up in so many ways, rather than being with staff members at school, who may be nice, but just don't have the ability to refresh the way Christian friends do!
