I just got back from an excursion with the year ones. We went to Wellington Point, which is a sort of beach, but more like a river-beach, even though it is the ocean that touches it. The kids looked at all the crabs and shells and sponges and had a blast. It was fun, but a day in the sun with 100 year ones...well, you camp people will understand that!! Last week I went on "camp" with the year fours. We just camped at the school for one night, but we stayed in tents and all that. It was fun, except the part where the girls ALL decided to go to the bathroom at 4:45AM and went by my tent to do so, making an obscene amount of noise. Needless to say, they didn't get free swim that morning as a result.
I am having a really hard time focusing on school. My mind is already starting to move to pack/travel mode. We booked our Fraser Island and Whitsunday sailing "tours" yesterday, and we pretty much have our itinerary set out. Well, I set it out and Ryan said okay. Now on to South-East Asia... I'd really rather concentrate on Australia right now, but then I also don't want to be planning for Asia while travelling here, so I'll get it all done now and not worry about it.
Funny story ("but not ha ha funny"): Ryan and I went to a Cathedral yesterday. It's pretty neat because it was started in 1906, and they kept running out of money, so it's still not completed. They are hoping to complete it in 2006. That's not the funny part. We took a tour and told the guide where we were from, and once our tour was done, she took another couple of people. She calls us over and says, "These ladies are from Saskatchewan too!" So in the middle of a Cathedral in Brisbane, Australia, we met two ladies from Saskatoon. One works at a travel agency in Circle Park Mall (I think) and the other one owns a store at Candle Lake! Small world or what! Plus they were older. It's one thing to meet others from Canada and maybe SK, our age and while travelling, but the circumstances were just weird. Anyway, that's my funny (but not ha ha funny) story.
