Any ideas for keeping a very determined little boy in his new bed? Jared has discovered the freedom of not being in a crib. And he can also open his door. So we have to get those doorknob things (parents, you know what I'm talking about!) but until then, we put the railing back onto his crib. We had just taken it off until we got his real new bed. And it was kinda funny, one of us would tuck him in and stroke his head, and tell him it was time to go to sleep, etc., etc. And pretty much as soon as we would close the door, "THMUP...thump, thump, thump, thump" as he would jump back out and run to the door. And then he would open the door. We found him knocking at our bedroom door at 3:30 this morning. He never even tried to climb out of his crib (which still amazes me!) so I was hoping that he would stay in a bed with no rails. But to no avail. So we might just have to lock him in his room and hope he learns to climb back into bed. But I'm open to other ideas!!

When we first put Landon in a big bed he was around Jared's age, and he cried and cried; I think he was scared without the comfort of the 'cage' around him! So we put him back in a crib until just before he turned 2. By then he was completely fine with the bed. We didn't have the problem of him just wanting to get up. So I guess I have no advice! Landon actually only learned to open doors last week! He's almost 3! That was actually very nice!
