WE HAVE A BABY BOY!!!! Jared Ryan Longueil was born at 4:16PM on Friday, May 12. He weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds and 5 ounces - I'm not sure where I stuffed him during pregnancy!! He measured 21.5 inches, although I still think that's not quite right. Anyway, we are so excited to have him in our lives. And I'm sorry the news didn't make it to the blog sooner - we only got home yesterday and have been settling in. It was funny to read our news on other people's blogs, but I'm glad the you guys posted it for me!
So the short of the story is that I had a doctor's appointment on Thursday, and she broke my water (not on purpose), so off to the hospital we went. I didn't go into true labour until that night and by 8:00 Friday morning, was well on my way in the contractions department, although not much happening in the dialation department. The checked me at noon and I was still 3cm although I got my epidural at 10:30AM (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE EPIDURAL!!!). But when they checked me again at 2:00PM, I was 8 cm and the by 2:55 was pushing. I must brag on myself and say that the doctors and nurses were impressed with my pushing (again, I attribute that to being in shape beforehand and continuing to workout during pregnancy). But alas, at 4:00, Jared got stuck(small pelvis, big baby), so they were debating whether to get the vaccum, when they saw meconium in my amniotic fluid, so that made the decision pretty easy and quick!! Because of the mec, the neonatal team was called in, so unfortunately he wasn't able to be placed on my chest right away, but that was okay -I just wanted him to be okay. He hadn't swallowed any of the mec, but because me water had broken more than 24 hours before he was delivered, he was born with a fever (infection getting into the womb or something) so he still had to be in the NICU for 2 days. That sucked and personally, I think it was a bit of an over-reaction. I think it would have been fine if he had been down there and monitored for a few hours, or even over night and then brought up to me, but whatever. We survived, he is healthy, eating and sleeping well, and pooping and peeing lots. I am also recovering well. I have to remember to slow down sometimes. Ryan has been GREAT - he is so awesome to watch with Jared. He was a mess at the delivery - crying like crazy and he was such an amazing coach and support person - I couldn't have asked for a better husband. He is so in love with our son and loves to stare at him and have him sleep on his chest and just plain do anything that needs to be done, including changing bomb diapers. Jared is perfect and beautiful and I would love to show him off to anyone who wants to see him, so feel free to call and/or drop by. We aren't always home, but give it a try. We would love to see you. Unfortunately, our computer is being a bit of a pain, so I am unable to post any pictures right now, but hopefully I will be able to very soon.

a HUGE congrats from Anthony & I, perhaps this weekend we'll take the dogs walking and stop by, if that's ok (I'll give you a call first).

Glad everything went well, praying for you as you all adjust to the new schedule Jared will demand :)

We are both so thrilled for the two of you! I am glad that you have posted as I always look forward to your messages! We can't wait to meet him...and I am sure that my Dad and Uncle Dave can't wait to take him up to the cabin. Do fishing poles come in newborn sizes?
Love,
