My soccer team was in provincials this weekend. Sigh. We are not a bad team, in fact we are quite a good team. We just can't get it quite right. We didn't win one game. The scores were: 2-0, 1-0, 1-0. So as you can see, we don't get blown out by any means. And it seems like we always get scored on at the very beginning and then we pick it up and play really well. We just can't connect ourselves. It's really frustrating, because our record for provincials doesn't indicate the calibre of team that we are. On the personal side, I am not used to 3 games in two days, so I am feeling that! It doesn't matter how much you jog/work out - if you don't play a full game of soccer that often, it hurts when you do! Playing the game is so much more than just a workout! It's so much more intense and you have to be mentally there too. It's funny, though, because my legs don't ache at all, it's more my back and shoulders. Probably from twisting when I kicked and doing so many stop/starts and sharp turns.
Ryan is currently working away on the basement suite. We are almost there! We've ripped up rugs, washed walls, cut out crappy drywall and insulation, replaced drywall and insulation, taped and mudded, primed and painted, and put the cupboards together. Now all we have left is to put the cupboards up and the countertop on (the plan for today), put the sink back into place, and rip up the carpet on the stairs. Then the carpet people are coming to reinstall the carpet we saved and put some new stuff in on Thursday. That's September 1!! Crazy - it's almost September! Anyway, we need new people to live in the suite. We've had people come to look, but no takers so far. So that could be a prayer item!!! It's a wonderful place for a student and everything is brand new. We've fixed the problem that caused the water seepage, so there is no concern about that happening again. If anyone knows of anyone...LET US KNOW!!
