So apparently the selling thing works, because I have my first sub job tomorrow morning. It was kinda weird, because the principal had just finished telling me that he has his regular sub list that he calls all the time, and then he has his "they put in the effort to come see me/contact me" list that he tries to give at least one job to in order to see how they are, and then he has his division list, which he hardly ever uses. So I was put on the second list, and he says he'll try to get me something in the next little while. Then he goes, "Actually, I just found out that one of my teachers needs a sub tomorrow morning - do you want the job?" Of course I do!! I even got to talk to the teacher, so that was nice. But the grade? ...6! My "nightmare" come true! But I got to see them, and they don't look that scary. I'm actually quite looking forward to it. It's nice to start out with half a day, and I don't actually have to teach them anything new - just review stuff they know and I get to administer a test! They seem even smaller than the year 6's I taught in Australia. Anyway, this job is at Clavet, which is the division's largest school, so if I can get my foot in there... I also am short listed at Aberdeen, the second largest school. All in all, the day of visiting schools was very positive. Most principal's talked to me for 10 to 15 minutes and said that they don't want to put elementary teachers into high school classes and vice versa, which made me feel reassured and more confident. I think it would be a very nice division to work for! So here goes nothing...
PS - yes, it is 2:20 AM. It's a combination of excitment and that iced cappucino I had about 4 hours ago. Those things don't usually affect me this much...
