I did my own kickboxing work out yesterday at home. It went pretty good, except there was no one there to make sure my techniques were right, and I haven't had enough classes to quickly come up with new things to work on. Obviously I am still going to go to regular classes, but it's nice to know that if something comes up and I can't make it on a certain day, I can do my own thing at home. I'll have to start writing down the different punches and kicks and combos after classes so that I have something to go by when I do do it on my own.
I did more push-ups and sit-ups then we do in a normal class and there is one set of push-ups that we do where one hand is in the regular position and the other one is by your hip, fingers pointing out, head turned towards that hand. Yup, I can definitely feel that one in the centre of my back today!!
I did experience a proud moment, though. As I was stretching, both before and after, I noticed that I am slowly getting more flexible. Any one that knows me well knows that I look absolutely ridiculous when I stretch. It doesn't look like I am doing anything, that's how unflexible I am. And I know the more you stretch, the more flexible you become, but I truly believe that my body type (legs about twice as long as trunk, for one thing) is just not conducive to flexibility. Touching my toes in the slightest way is always a big achievement for me. Anyway, my point is that I am starting to look at least a little less stupid when stretching.
